Description
Course Description: Ceramic dental implants represent one of the most exciting advancements in implant dentistry, offering clinicians a biocompatible, esthetic, and metal-free alternative to titanium. Current research highlights the advantages of zirconia implants, including reduced peri-implant inflammation, favorable epithelial attachment, and superior esthetic integration due to their natural tooth-like color. As patient demand for metal-free and biologically harmonious treatment options continues to rise, the ability to competently place and restore ceramic implants provides a powerful opportunity to expand and differentiate your practice.
This comprehensive one-day program combines evidence-based lectures, practical hands-on training, and live surgical demonstrations by Drs. Pi and Stevenson. In the morning, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific rationale, clinical indications, and prosthetic workflows associated with zirconia implants. The afternoon session will transition into immersive hands-on training, where participants will practice osteotomy preparation, implant placement, provisionalization, impression techniques, and delivery protocols. The day will culminate in a live patient surgery, showcasing both freehand and guided placement approaches, allowing attendees to see theory translated into practice.
By the end of the course, participants will not only understand the clinical science behind zirconia implants but will also gain the practical skills necessary to confidently integrate them into their treatment protocols.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
-
Evaluate the biological, material, and clinical properties of zirconia implants in comparison to titanium implants, including implications for peri-implant tissue health, long-term success, and patient-centered care.
-
Apply evidence-based surgical and prosthetic protocols for zirconia implant therapy through hands-on practice, including osteotomy preparation, implant placement, provisionalization, impression-taking, and final restoration.
-
Integrate zirconia implant solutions into clinical practice by identifying appropriate patient selection criteria, managing potential complications, and effectively communicating treatment benefits to patients seeking metal-free and esthetic alternatives.
