Dr. Stevenson worked closely with the manufacturer to design, test, and manufacture the PL13/PC3, which includes the signature Stevenson Plasma Blue Titanium Nitride coated tips. This TiN coating renders the instrument less prone to stick to composite while hardening the steel for increased durability.

The handle is colored in BLACK and is constructed of fully autoclavable lightweight surgical plastic for easy identification.
